said cat decides to stop pawing at his phone and moves to his face instead, as though it's trying to point out his reaction to reading those two lines back to back. it's a good job no one has to see this mess. a loud maaa! follows, and aventurine can't tell if it's being supportive or mocking at this point.
he really should get the animal amulet from riki's store.
a sigh follows, and thankfully he stops being left on read again. now he knows he's with the cat hopefully it excuses the pauses. }
I'm not going anywhere. Just drop by when you're ready.
{ does it help he isn't drawing attention to it...? hard to say. }
["What the fuck, this was supposed to be dumping leftovers on my pal Aventurine, why does this feel weird?" is something Sunday absolutely does not say because when everything is said and done, he does want to see Aventurine. Weird.]
I'll be over in ten minutes.
[Which should be enough time for Aventurine to Prepare, for whatever it's worth. As for him, he's spending eight minutes staring at the slice of cake, staring out a window, questioning if he can run to a bakery to find a presentable cake and come back, staring out a window again, staring at the cake, and then heading on over to deliver Platonic Friendship Leftovers.]
{ it should be enough time to prepare, sure, but that's if he does anything to prepare. a lot of it is spent staring at the cat cake with him who just stares back and he questions if he's just dreamed the entire exchange up.
but nope.
the texts are there.
the best he can do with around seven minutes to spare is try and pat down his hair a bit, why he's even making an effort is a question though he's trying to not think about.
he'll also pre-emptively get out the cat cake treat bag. 😔 which means he'll be crowded by all three by the time the door goes, of course. }
[He's at the door at the appointed time, the door opens, and-]
...hello. [Sunday hadn't expected to see all of them, all at once, Aventurine and his cat cakes, and he has to take a moment. Not a bad moment? It's a pleasant surprise, the sort of surprise that has a stupid smile cross his face as he kneels down, carefully holding the cake out of their reach because there's a philosophical question to be had about cat cakes and actual cakes.]
It's good to see you all. [One cat gets a little scratch, the second a pet, the third a stroke, but also-
Sunday glances up, and then stands up, and then reaches out to brush Aventurine's cheek, because what sort of guest would he be if he ignored the cat dad? A touch, there and gone again.]
It's good to see you as well.
[He wants to say something like 'sorry if I didn't get back to you sooner, I wasn't ignoring your texts if you sent any, I was just stuck in an area with bad reception while watching a dude who I sometimes get hot pot with throw rocks and wondering what my life is' but now's not the time for exploration-related discussion and apologies.]
I'll trade you this for that? [The cake for the treat bag, that is.]
{ to be fair, the cake cats are being awfully clingy because he's a mess. it doesn't show right now as he gives a smile, making it look easy and fine. he doesn't want to talk about the exploration either, so avoiding that sounds perfect right now. thankfully, despite being in bed on and off for days, he isn't actually wearing pyjamas. it isn't far from it though, very plain loungewear that is usually used for work outs. but it's comfy. cozy. }
...Maybe they weren't just hopeful for treats after all.
{ not when each of them lean into the contact, stretching out with soft maaas, big eyes peering up at sunday when he stands again. aventurine's busy watching them so doesn't realise what's happening, a hand brushes his cheek and it's gone again before he can react.
his smile falters for a moment, mask slipping to show the surprise, and he isn't sure how to respond to that greeting--is it a greeting??--either. of course that means he pretends it isn't there at all. moving on-
it takes him a moment to realise he's referring to the treat bag and cake.
right. he was supposed to accept and try some cake.
when had he last eaten actually? good question.
instead of lingering on that either though, he laughs, holds out the treat bag for sunday to take. }
Why else would I have got it out ready? Come inside first though, I don't want them getting excited and trying to run out while we're distracted.
[He enters, of course, just walking in like this is not at all weird and he comes over all the time and they do this all the time. He's very carefully not looking at Aventurine, in part because there's a bunch of cat cakes on the ground and if he stepped on one he never would forgive himself.]
You wouldn't want to cause trouble for your father, would you? [Maaa.] Maaa. [Yes, he's maaing at the cat cakes, what of it. The cake is...
...handed to Aventurine.] It's better than it looks, I promise. [Does it, though?
The treat bag is taken.]
Where are the toys? [He's going to get them settled in the living room while Aventurine eats the cake because Sunday doesn't think he can take seeing Aventurine's reaction as he tastes it firsthand, okay?]
{ he's slow and gentle as he nudges the door shut, handing over the treat bag as he does so. the cat cakes' eyes are on sunday at the moment anyway, so it's probably easy to do both at once.
it's probably for the best he's sorting out the door when sunday maas back at them though, because he has to bite his lip. that is stupidly cute. he doesn't want to think it. but. it's impossible to deny isn't it?
still, when he turns back around he tries to appear less worn out than he is, a smile plastered in place. }
Thanks. { a hand reaches out, takes the container then stares down at it. his lips twitch. it's definitely been smushed in there a little, but. this was clearly handmade and took effort and he doesn't know how to feel about being given a piece of that to try. maybe it's best not to think about it.
in fact, he's staring at the cake and overthinking it that he doesn't even think about the response he gives to the question. }
One of the drawers in the cabinet. I'll just-- { he has to drag his eyes up and away from the container, both hands holding onto it. careful not to drop it. } I'll just go grab something to eat this with.
{ maybe if he wasn't blindsided by homemade cake and cute maa noises he'd remember not to just leave sunday with free reign of the living room in search of cat toys. as it is, he really will just leave him to go inside on his own. he's off to go find a spoon or something. }
[He's not thinking too hard about anything. He's just living in the moment, because that's the best way of dealing with Aventurine's everything. He heads off to the living room with the trio of cats, and he's a Halovian on a mission which is to find some cat toys.
He puts the bag of treats atop the dresser. The first drawer produces absolutely nothing. The second he opens, one that was being helpfully pawed at by one of the cat cakes, produces-]
Oh.
[It takes him a moment to realize what it is he's looking at. It takes him another moment to really realize what he's looking at, and Sunday sits down slowly and holds up a labuwu of himself with a trembling hand. The other scratches at the cat cake behind one of its ears, fondly but absently. He's trying very hard to not overthink this.]
This is a secret. [He's talking softly, more to himself than anything else. Then, he licks his lips, directs his attention towards the cat cake in question, slowly placing the Sunday labuwu back in the drawer. His voice is soft. Like he's telling a story to a child, or a secret to a friend.]
This is a secret, but I ended up getting fourteen of your father, Aventurine. In the end, I couldn't bear to trade him away and kept the bulk of the ones I managed to pull. [At best, he traded away two.] I have them in a drawer just like this one.
[Why is he telling this cat cake? He doesn't know. But he's going to close that drawer slowly so he can focus on playing with the cats. Some secrets don't need to be seen. It's okay.]
{ he has time for it, really, as soon as aventurine makes it to the kitchen he's trying to not have a small breakdown in there. there's some weird separation anxiety from the cats, for how they've been latched onto him for days. there's some weird... he doesn't even know what to call it, when he looks down at the cake smushed in the box.
his stomach turns, torn between with being hungry and being through the ringer of stress and fuck knows what else.
a spoon. he just. needs to get a spoon.
a drawer opens, a spoon is taken out, placed on the container, the drawer shut. his hand goes into his hair, grips it. eating cake after not much for days... isn't the best plan but he hasn't really got anything in.
he'll come back with two glasses of water in his hands, spoon handle in his mouth and the container tucked under his arm. thankfully he's blissfully unaware his secret has been found.
and... progress!
the waters are put on the coffee table, spoon removed from his mouth and- }
Here... I didn't ask if you wanted anything, but I don't have much else in anyway.
{ then finally he'll shift to the couch, pulling a leg up until his knee can wiggle under the oversized sweater he's in. one of the three cat cakes leaves the group, moves towards aventurine and maas up at him--though it doesn't look like it's begging for food. no. it looks more pleased that aventurine is about to eat something. like it's cheering him on. }
[He straightens as- no, Sunday brightens as Aventurine enters the living room. He perks up, his attention sliding from the cat cake immediately onto the other man. His wings perk up- they do a little twitch. Unfortunately for the both of them, he's grown fond of Aventurine in some way he's in no rush to quantify and has accepted it. He doesn't know what shape that fondness takes, and he doesn't care, he just likes Aventurine. And Aventurine can see that fondness.
...even if the sight of the cake makes him feel anxious, but he forces that down. Swallows that anxiety. Shoves it deep inside of his soul. He could make excuses. He could explain how cooking was proving the best middle ground between his love of order and his need for change. He could play down how much damn work he put into that cake, but that would be a disservice to Aventurine.]
If I knew your kitchen was so barren I would have brought over something to drink as well.
[...he's not going to read too much into that just yet. Anyway.]
You're the first person to have something I made. You don't have to spare my feelings when it comes to the taste - honesty is the only way I'll improve.
{ 'next time', he says, like that's a certainty. it's hard to miss the way sunday's disposition has that little change, though he won't bring it up. then he just settles in his place on the couch. the container lid is pulled off, and he... tries to scrape the top back onto the cake from where it'd been mushed into it. scrape scrape scrape.
he's buying some time, trying to stop his stomach from somersaulting before he even starts to try and eat it.
he scoops up a bit, then hesitantly plops the spoon in his mouth. the cake cat trying to cheer him on makes a little chirp like noise. he breathes through his nose, lets the taste settle on his tongue. the sweetness is a bit overwhelming when he's mostly had water that day but... it tastes good? }
I'm... not exactly an expert, but it does taste good. { a small laugh follows } Though the presentation could clearly do with some work.
[He exhales as Aventurine calls it good and promptly shifts to join him on the couch. He'll apologize to the cat cakes later. Some things are more important. And Aventurine would have no reason to spare his feelings, so-]
The presentation is terrible.
[He hates it so much. Aventurine has no idea how much work went into working up the nerve to give his decent tasting and horrible looking cake to someone.]
And the important thing is that you like it. [So.]
It took me a few tries to make something worth sharing. Hopefully, next time my offering looks better.
{ well one of the cake cakes is happy to see him come over, it's still pawing at aventurine as though trying to will him to eat more. to eat it faster. aventurine swallows the next piece of cake, licks the spoon to get the remnants off before taking another spoonful.
his other hand reaches out, pets at said cat to try and get it to calm down. if he eats it any faster he'll likely just end up feeling sick. so. slowly and steadily, he'll get there. }
To put in that much effort... what's the occasion?
[And he is absolutely going to reach over for the cat cake, because he doesn't know what's going on, not quite, against his will he's starting to have a suspicion (he's trying very hard to not read too much into anything Aventurine does, but against his will his brain's whispering at him) and he knows when someone is in the way. Even with the best of intentions. Cat cake into his lap?]
Does there need to be an occasion?
[For the record, he sounds incredibly confused. Isn't wanting to do something right reason enough? Isn't pursuing being better reason enough? Also-]
You're eating something I made. [Obviously.] Isn't that occasion enough?
{ the cat cake mghhs! at him, but will hop forward if prompted. it may be for the wrong reasons, it seems to think sunday is on the exact same page. }
But you didn't make this for me in particular...
{ the words come out before he can take them back, hang in the air. neither answer to that is going to be good to hear, so he doesn't know why he said it. so he'll just steamroll onwards, it may or may not be the start of a yappening- }
...at least I doubt that was the intention. No one does something without wanting something in return, so there has to be a reason for it... even if it isn't all the important right now. Besides, there's many other things you could have chosen to make instead, with you saying you had a liking for sweet treats, isn't it more likely you just wanted to taste something for yourself? In which case that amount of effort wouldn't be needed.
{ 😔 he may or may not be trying to buy time while his stomach settles after that last bite. }
[Sunday makes a noise, a protesting noise- is he going to protest that he made it for Aventurine or that he didn't? It doesn't matter because Aventurine starts talking. And talking. And Sunday is, at first, petting the cat cake in an attempt to placate it. It's okay, their father is yapping, he does this all the time, as a reformed(?) yapper who still knows how to yap, Sunday can be charitable. Generous, even. He understands thinking out loud. He understands processing.
But then as Aventurine doesn't shut up the petting changes in tone, from holding the cat cake back to holding himself back. And as Aventurine talks about sweet treats, Sunday gently shoos the cat cake off of his lap. No, not onto Aventurine's lap, the cat cake needs to be out of the way for a moment. Sunday's wings still. His eyes narrow and Aventurine doesn't get to finish his speech, no, he's saying In which case that amount of effort would- and that's as far as he gets before Sunday grabs him by the shirt, pulls him in, and roughly kisses him. Because maybe the sex had taught him a few things. Maybe he remembers how to shut him the fuck up. Maybe this isn't as effective as fucking him, but by gosh. He will use what he can.
Sunday pulls away.]
Speaking as someone who spends too much time in his own head: you're overthinking it. [And, also.] I'm going to see what's in your kitchen.
{ there is so much yapping. it would continue too, because if he lets his mouth run on its own they will be here all day and maybe then he can really take his time with the cake when it feels like too much sugar in one go after none most of the day.
he's not really thinking about it, his hand can't keep petting the cat cake, so he has little else as grounding other than running his mouth.
out of anything he expects, like a pillow to the face or a hand over his mouth, this isn't it.
the spoon in his hand clatters as it drops from his fingers, stopped mid thought and mid word as he is effectively shut up. there's a blink. another blink. part of him leans into it, before he's thinking about that and sunday speaks. there are words. right. he's overthinking it-
is he really though???? what the hell just happened- }
[He hadn't expected Aventurine to lean into the kiss. Aventurine had. If there hadn't been yapping up until that point, he- probably wouldn't have kissed him in the first place. It was a stupid, impulsive decision because Aventurine had spoken for a moment too long about something that didn't really matter-
Anyway. And he hadn't expected that spoon to clatter, and he hadn't expected Aventurine to be so dumbfounded because of how glib the gambler's tongue usually is. Of all the things to shut him up, it's a kiss, and Sunday finds himself touching his lip and then, belatedly, hiding that with a wing because he's not sure if he wants Aventurine to see, and then not because he's probably blushing because what the hell just happened? But also, if he gets too far into his own head they won't get anywhere with this.]
I was...
[Going to go to the kitchen, but leaving feels fraught, staying on this couch feels fraught, and everything feels fraught at the moment. Fraught, fraught, fraught. He'd ask himself why he did that, but also if he hadn't Aventurine would probably still be talking. (Probably.) So he knows why he did it. He'll stand by this decision. Made his decision with eyes wide open. No matter the consequences, it's better than the alternative.
But also Aventurine's reaction wasn't...
It wasn't supposed to be that. It-
Okay, now both of them are overthinking it.]
It seemed like a good idea.
[Fuck if he knows. Fuck it. Actually, yeah, fuck it, he's grabbing Aventurine's cheek, his chin, leaning in again, and this time kissing to preemptively shut him up from anything else he might be saying, but this time kissing him like he's. Fond. Of him. In some weird way they don't really need to worry about. Obviously. If one kiss shut down both of their brains, another kiss will get them working again.]
{ if you're the one who starts an action, who starts the domino effect, you probably don't get to ask 'what the hell happened'. aventurine, on the other hand, does.
he's side tracked momentarily, inhaling sharper than intended when sunday's wing moves to cover his own mouth, to hide the way he fingers press over his mouth under there.
that's. that. that's. it's something.
it's something that somehow manages to cut away any thoughts of the excursion from his head, focuses in on that one action. his eyes drop to the wing, drops to where he can't even see sunday's mouth anymore but can imagine what he looks like under there. thinks. definitely overthinks. grips the plate in his hand tighter, plays the part by starting to speak again-- }
Well, I'm not complai-mfph?
{ --only this is a bit different. this isn't as aggressive for one thing, which was expected. it's always expected. not whatever the hell this is. this that makes the spoon on the plate rattle slightly as his hands start to tremble. he fumbles, tries to grip the spoon again so the noise isn't as obvious but he can't really look down to take it. while all of this may be going on he isn't pulling away though, doesn't really want to, which something he'll have to overthink later in the comfort of solitude.
if it had kept being like the first, he may have tried to put the plate aside. to try and climb onto his lap, maybe tease and tempt him into more.
none of that happens though, not now. he simply lets it happen. simply responds and matches the tone of it. soft. endeared. somethingsomething. }
[At some point in the kiss, his wings lift up to veil their faces from the rest of the world...even if the rest of the world consists of the cat cakes. (And Sunday likes the cat cakes.) It's just reflexive. Some things he doesn't want to share with anything around them. It's soft. It's gentle. It's various other things. It doesn't matter what those things are, it just is.
Eventually, though, Sunday breaks the kiss with a quick nip of Aventurine's lips, and then a quick kiss, as if in apology. (As if he had bitten that hard, but as an apology.) Sunday searches Aventurine's eyes, his hand still on Aventurine's cheek, thumb (nervously) stroking skin, and then-]
I-
[His eyes momentarily glance aside, a blush on his cheeks, chewing his cheek nervously, but then- he nearly touched divinity. He nearly touched heaven. Why is he hesitating? Sunday's gaze meets Aventurine's own once again.]
If your kitchen is barren we can order in something. [And, also.] But if you want me to stay longer I'd like to stop by my apartment and pick up a few things.
[Up to Aventurine to decide what he means by longer, what sort of longer would entail having to pick up a few things.]
{ the cake cats had dived behind the coffee table at the clatter of the spoon before, but they are peeking around and over it now, so maybe it's for the best that sunday's reflex is to hide them away from their gazes.
the smallest of noises slips out. quiet, but definitely embarrassing, as he finds himself giving into it. enjoying it for what it is. no rush to chase a high that this could lead to, no pushing for more. just a soft simple action shared between two people.
he looks dazed when sunday does pull back, has to blink a few times to kick start his thoughts again. }
Oh.
{ he breathes the sound out, lets the smile that is itching to form on his lips form. it's small, but it's the way his eyes flutter, are half lidded as he looks back at him that actually show warmth. }
Mm. There isn't much left from when Guizhong dropped by... but. Why don't we finish this first?
{ the wording gives some of it away, but, he glances down. glances quickly and rushed, to scoop a small bit of cake onto the spoon to put it in his mouth. this time he's prepared though, isn't thrown off mid-sentence. one hand stays holding onto the plate, the other shifts to press against sunday's shoulder for balance as he leans over to press their mouths together again. it isn't forceful like it had been with the sushi, more of a request than a demand when the tip of his tongue presses against lips, the cake balanced carefully in the hope that if it's like this he'll let him share it. }
[He finds himself- well, he's probably blushing, but he's still blushing, or maybe blushing harder in a shade to rival Argenti's hair, because Sunday has no idea when it was that he had earned that sort of warmth shining from Aventurine's eyes, but it's the sort of sight that takes his breath away, that makes everything worth it, and he's lost control of a lot of things. Sunday knows this. There were a lot of things he had a grasp on, and he's lost control of every last bit of it. And he actually doesn't mind? He should. He knows. He doesn't. The kisses were a mistake- well, okay, not really, Sunday thoroughly enjoyed every last second of them, but they were a tacit admission of...
Something, that they were also tacitly ignoring.
But also, that something was getting hard to ignore, so it was maybe inevitable.
Regardless, he watches, like a vole numbed by a fox's riddle, waiting to be eaten, as Aventurine scoops up a little bit of cake on that spoon, and puts it in his mouth. Aventurine presses against his shoulder; he moves to support him. It's like a stupid dance as they kiss again, and Sunday's mouth immediately opens with a little desperate groan because in the end, he's eager to please. He'll take whatever Aventurine gives him, and he's eager to please. His tongue is in his mouth, trying to taste every last bit of the cake, or just famished after having denied himself certain things for a while, and Sunday still wants to please. Maybe the sushi just decanted something that Sunday had been keeping bottled up the second he had seen the fucking IPC envoy in the first fucking place and he had fucking convinced himself that all he wanted to do was to wreck him (not in a good, sexy way, and then in a cruel-yet-sexy way, and then it got really complicated), but maybe all of that, too, was a lie.
He'd crawl onto his lap, but there's cake in the way.
He should never want to crawl into anyone's lap. What the hell has Aventurine done to him?
Sunday breaks for air. He breathes, shuddering, and turns out that while he hadn't quite crawled into Aventurine's lap (cake, plates, things in the way) his leg did start to move.
{ they probably should be doing a whole number of things that aren't this, but ignoring the elephant in the room means here they are. there's a groan, probably a number of other noises, as the cake is passed into sunday's mouth. passed between them. the frosting incredibly sweet, and he may not have the same sweet tooth sunday has but it does taste divine.
he's just not going to reflect on the fact that while he'd been trying to eat slowly, was struggling to eat it, he's actually really fucking eager to taste it now. he twists a bit more, trying to get comfy when he shifts as well. knees bump, moving a little too far to lean closer, before they both settle in place.
the plate and cake really are in the way.
sunday pulls back for air, aventurine's eyes dip to look at sunday's lips. }
Mm. It's sweeter than I expected.
{ he almost forgets to get another spoonful of the cake, almost dives right back in for another. but no, thankfully not, thankfully he can scoop up a bit more.
something in the back of his head tries to remind him that he shouldn't be doing this, but at this point he really hopes he's already paid the fucking price with what happened on the excursion. let him have cake in peace.
so he repeats the process, barely gives sunday time to catch his breath.
maybe he should consider them a mistake if this is where it got them now- }
[Sunday, of course, eagerly meets that kiss. He didn't even think he was capable of eagerly meeting any kisses, but here he is, eagerly meeting that kiss. His mouth opens, his hand reaches up, touches Aventurine's cheek, threads through his hair. He doesn't need to breathe, all the air in the world is in the Stoneheart's lungs. And then, his tongue desperately in Aventurine's mouth, he-
His knee hits a plate. Again.
The cake, and the plate, is in the way. He is ending the kiss. Fingertips cover Aventurine's mouth if he tries to chase after him.]
Here-
[He's taking the plate from Aventurine- don't stop him, he's taking the plate. It's his plate now.]
I enjoy what you're doing with this a lot, but it's in the way, and it's starting to get frustrating.
[Sunday's moving as he's talking, leaning away- he's putting a hand on Aventurine's chest if he tries to move. Stay. Shoving that plate on that surface. The one over there, that table that's a safe ways away from the two of them, and hopefully high enough the cat cakes can't get at it. Nothing would ruin the moment like pet food poisoning.]
There.
[And now he's seating himself on Aventurine's lap like he owns it. Better! Sunday smiles a little pleased smile at Aventurine. It's very pleased. He's very happy. Isn't this much better? Doesn't this make more sense?
A hand is back in his hair, lightly tugging on it, and Sunday's meeting Aventurine's lips with his own, inflicting another kiss onto him- don't stop him. Once again, chasing after kisses, chasing after this, something he denied himself for whatever reason, something that tastes like sunlight, like summer in all of the best of ways, something he wants to bask in, and Sunday denied himself this. For what? Don't ask him why.]
{ the noise he makes when sunday's fingers press over his lips is incredibly needy, embarrassingly so, as he leans up to chase after him as expected. unfortunately (for him) he is not successful. he slumps back, doesn't move his body closer or struggle against it, just looks disappointed he's being held back for the moment.
at first he's just grateful sunday tells him his reasoning for it. that, in a way, he's guided through the process. it's only when the plate is taken, that he says he enjoys what aventurine is doing with it a lot, that his lips part and his tongue slides over those fingertips whether sunday's hands are gloved or not.
it's short lived, as he lets the hand pressed against his own chest keep him in place. his own hand lifts to cover sunday's, gives it a squeeze, and watches with rapt attention as the plate is put aside. he glances at where the cat cakes have started chatting and playing together to see that it looks like the cake is safe for now. it's brief enough that he gets a moment of confusion as sunday finishes up...
...and makes his way onto his own lap.
realisation dawns, his eyes widen a fraction, because there's so much to take in. from the pleasant weight over his thighs, the warmth of another body, but most importantly the smile on sunday's face that makes his breath audibly hitch. he doesn't expect it, even if everything between them right now points to the fact that he really does seem to want this as well. at least in some capacity. he squashes down any thoughts relating to that fast enough, but-- }
Oh. Much better.
{ and if anything, what follows is the entire opposite to stopping him. he surges forward to kiss him hungrily now everything seems to be in place, lets one arm wind around his waist to keep him steady, to pull him forward. his other hand reaches to drag over his thigh. }

Date: 2025-12-08 02:12 am (UTC)...hello.

Date: 2025-12-08 08:32 pm (UTC)...Maybe they weren't just hopeful for treats after all.
{ not when each of them lean into the contact, stretching out with soft maaas, big eyes peering up at sunday when he stands again. aventurine's busy watching them so doesn't realise what's happening, a hand brushes his cheek and it's gone again before he can react.
his smile falters for a moment, mask slipping to show the surprise, and he isn't sure how to respond to that greeting--is it a greeting??--either. of course that means he pretends it isn't there at all. moving on-
it takes him a moment to realise he's referring to the treat bag and cake.
right. he was supposed to accept and try some cake.
when had he last eaten actually? good question.
instead of lingering on that either though, he laughs, holds out the treat bag for sunday to take. }
Why else would I have got it out ready? Come inside first though, I don't want them getting excited and trying to run out while we're distracted.

Date: 2025-12-10 04:54 am (UTC)[He enters, of course, just walking in like this is not at all weird and he comes over all the time and they do this all the time.
[He's going to get them settled in the living room while Aventurine eats the cake because Sunday doesn't think he can take seeing Aventurine's reaction as he tastes it firsthand, okay?]
is it time for him to find the labuwus.... 😔
Date: 2025-12-11 01:07 am (UTC)it's probably for the best he's sorting out the door when sunday maas back at them though, because he has to bite his lip. that is stupidly cute. he doesn't want to think it. but. it's impossible to deny isn't it?
still, when he turns back around he tries to appear less worn out than he is, a smile plastered in place. }
Thanks. { a hand reaches out, takes the container then stares down at it. his lips twitch. it's definitely been smushed in there a little, but. this was clearly handmade and took effort and he doesn't know how to feel about being given a piece of that to try. maybe it's best not to think about it.
in fact, he's staring at the cake and overthinking it that he doesn't even think about the response he gives to the question. }
One of the drawers in the cabinet. I'll just-- { he has to drag his eyes up and away from the container, both hands holding onto it. careful not to drop it. } I'll just go grab something to eat this with.
{ maybe if he wasn't blindsided by homemade cake and cute maa noises he'd remember not to just leave sunday with free reign of the living room in search of cat toys. as it is, he really will just leave him to go inside on his own. he's off to go find a spoon or something. }
you know what
Date: 2025-12-11 05:17 am (UTC)He puts the bag of treats atop the dresser.
It's okay.]
soff labuwus... incl a mouse and hawaiian shirt sunday labuwu i guess
Date: 2025-12-11 11:27 pm (UTC)his stomach turns, torn between with being hungry and being through the ringer of stress and fuck knows what else.
a spoon. he just. needs to get a spoon.
a drawer opens, a spoon is taken out, placed on the container, the drawer shut. his hand goes into his hair, grips it. eating cake after not much for days... isn't the best plan but he hasn't really got anything in.
he'll come back with two glasses of water in his hands, spoon handle in his mouth and the container tucked under his arm. thankfully he's blissfully unaware his secret has been found.
and... progress!
the waters are put on the coffee table, spoon removed from his mouth and- }
Here... I didn't ask if you wanted anything, but I don't have much else in anyway.
{ then finally he'll shift to the couch, pulling a leg up until his knee can wiggle under the oversized sweater he's in. one of the three cat cakes leaves the group, moves towards aventurine and maas up at him--though it doesn't look like it's begging for food. no. it looks more pleased that aventurine is about to eat something. like it's cheering him on. }

Date: 2025-12-12 01:30 am (UTC)...even if the sight of the cake makes him feel anxious, but he forces that down.

Date: 2025-12-13 01:30 am (UTC){ 'next time', he says, like that's a certainty. it's hard to miss the way sunday's disposition has that little change, though he won't bring it up. then he just settles in his place on the couch. the container lid is pulled off, and he... tries to scrape the top back onto the cake from where it'd been mushed into it. scrape scrape scrape.
he's buying some time, trying to stop his stomach from somersaulting before he even starts to try and eat it.
he scoops up a bit, then hesitantly plops the spoon in his mouth. the cake cat trying to cheer him on makes a little chirp like noise. he breathes through his nose, lets the taste settle on his tongue. the sweetness is a bit overwhelming when he's mostly had water that day but... it tastes good? }
I'm... not exactly an expert, but it does taste good. { a small laugh follows } Though the presentation could clearly do with some work.
no subject
Date: 2025-12-13 03:06 am (UTC)The presentation is terrible.
[He hates it so much. Aventurine has no idea how much work went into working up the nerve to give his decent tasting and horrible looking cake to someone.]
And the important thing is that you like it. [So.]
It took me a few tries to make something worth sharing. Hopefully, next time my offering looks better.
['Next time' like it's a certainty.]

Date: 2025-12-13 05:18 pm (UTC)his other hand reaches out, pets at said cat to try and get it to calm down. if he eats it any faster he'll likely just end up feeling sick. so. slowly and steadily, he'll get there. }
To put in that much effort... what's the occasion?
{ is there even an occasion???? }
no subject
Date: 2025-12-14 02:52 am (UTC)Does there need to be an occasion?
[For the record, he sounds incredibly confused. Isn't wanting to do something right reason enough? Isn't pursuing being better reason enough? Also-]
You're eating something I made. [Obviously.] Isn't that occasion enough?
no subject
Date: 2025-12-16 01:07 am (UTC)But you didn't make this for me in particular...
{ the words come out before he can take them back, hang in the air. neither answer to that is going to be good to hear, so he doesn't know why he said it. so he'll just steamroll onwards, it may or may not be the start of a yappening- }
...at least I doubt that was the intention.
{ 😔 he may or may not be trying to buy time while his stomach settles after that last bite. }
no subject
Date: 2025-12-16 01:19 am (UTC)But then as Aventurine doesn't shut up the petting changes in tone, from holding the cat cake back to holding himself back.
[And, also.] I'm going to see what's in your kitchen.
no subject
Date: 2025-12-17 01:01 am (UTC)he's not really thinking about it, his hand can't keep petting the cat cake, so he has little else as grounding other than running his mouth.
out of anything he expects, like a pillow to the face or a hand over his mouth, this isn't it.
the spoon in his hand clatters as it drops from his fingers, stopped mid thought and mid word as he is effectively shut up. there's a blink. another blink. part of him leans into it, before he's thinking about that and sunday speaks. there are words. right. he's overthinking it-
is he really though???? what the hell just happened- }
Huh?
no subject
Date: 2025-12-17 01:53 am (UTC)Anyway.

Date: 2025-12-19 12:46 am (UTC)he's side tracked momentarily, inhaling sharper than intended when sunday's wing moves to cover his own mouth, to hide the way he fingers press over his mouth under there.
that's. that. that's. it's something.
it's something that somehow manages to cut away any thoughts of the excursion from his head, focuses in on that one action. his eyes drop to the wing, drops to where he can't even see sunday's mouth anymore but can imagine what he looks like under there. thinks. definitely overthinks. grips the plate in his hand tighter, plays the part by starting to speak again-- }
Well, I'm not complai-mfph?
{ --only this is a bit different. this isn't as aggressive for one thing, which was expected. it's always expected. not whatever the hell this is. this that makes the spoon on the plate rattle slightly as his hands start to tremble. he fumbles, tries to grip the spoon again so the noise isn't as obvious but he can't really look down to take it. while all of this may be going on he isn't pulling away though, doesn't really want to, which something he'll have to overthink later in the comfort of solitude.
if it had kept being like the first, he may have tried to put the plate aside. to try and climb onto his lap, maybe tease and tempt him into more.
none of that happens though, not now. he simply lets it happen. simply responds and matches the tone of it. soft. endeared. somethingsomething. }

Date: 2025-12-19 03:29 am (UTC)Eventually, though, Sunday breaks the kiss with a quick nip of Aventurine's lips, and then a quick kiss, as if in apology.

Date: 2025-12-21 03:43 pm (UTC)the smallest of noises slips out. quiet, but definitely embarrassing, as he finds himself giving into it. enjoying it for what it is. no rush to chase a high that this could lead to, no pushing for more. just a soft simple action shared between two people.
he looks dazed when sunday does pull back, has to blink a few times to kick start his thoughts again. }
Oh.
{ he breathes the sound out, lets the smile that is itching to form on his lips form. it's small, but it's the way his eyes flutter, are half lidded as he looks back at him that actually show warmth. }
Mm. There isn't much left from when Guizhong dropped by... but. Why don't we finish this first?
{ the wording gives some of it away, but, he glances down. glances quickly and rushed, to scoop a small bit of cake onto the spoon to put it in his mouth. this time he's prepared though, isn't thrown off mid-sentence. one hand stays holding onto the plate, the other shifts to press against sunday's shoulder for balance as he leans over to press their mouths together again. it isn't forceful like it had been with the sushi, more of a request than a demand when the tip of his tongue presses against lips, the cake balanced carefully in the hope that if it's like this he'll let him share it. }

Date: 2025-12-23 05:04 am (UTC)Something, that they were also tacitly ignoring.
Words.]
It tastes better than I remember.
[Idiot.]

Date: 2025-12-25 01:30 am (UTC)he's just not going to reflect on the fact that while he'd been trying to eat slowly, was struggling to eat it, he's actually really fucking eager to taste it now. he twists a bit more, trying to get comfy when he shifts as well. knees bump, moving a little too far to lean closer, before they both settle in place.
the plate and cake really are in the way.
sunday pulls back for air, aventurine's eyes dip to look at sunday's lips. }
Mm. It's sweeter than I expected.
{ he almost forgets to get another spoonful of the cake, almost dives right back in for another. but no, thankfully not, thankfully he can scoop up a bit more.
something in the back of his head tries to remind him that he shouldn't be doing this, but at this point he really hopes he's already paid the fucking price with what happened on the excursion. let him have cake in peace.
so he repeats the process, barely gives sunday time to catch his breath.
maybe he should consider them a mistake if this is where it got them now- }

Date: 2025-12-26 02:51 am (UTC)His knee hits a plate.
For what? Don't ask him why.]
i realise i typo'd and that should have been 'maybe he shouldn't consider them a mistake' 😔
Date: 2025-12-26 09:40 pm (UTC)at first he's just grateful sunday tells him his reasoning for it. that, in a way, he's guided through the process. it's only when the plate is taken, that he says he enjoys what aventurine is doing with it a lot, that his lips part and his tongue slides over those fingertips whether sunday's hands are gloved or not.
it's short lived, as he lets the hand pressed against his own chest keep him in place. his own hand lifts to cover sunday's, gives it a squeeze, and watches with rapt attention as the plate is put aside. he glances at where the cat cakes have started chatting and playing together to see that it looks like the cake is safe for now. it's brief enough that he gets a moment of confusion as sunday finishes up...
...and makes his way onto his own lap.
realisation dawns, his eyes widen a fraction, because there's so much to take in. from the pleasant weight over his thighs, the warmth of another body, but most importantly the smile on sunday's face that makes his breath audibly hitch. he doesn't expect it, even if everything between them right now points to the fact that he really does seem to want this as well. at least in some capacity. he squashes down any thoughts relating to that fast enough, but-- }
Oh. Much better.
{ and if anything, what follows is the entire opposite to stopping him. he surges forward to kiss him hungrily now everything seems to be in place, lets one arm wind around his waist to keep him steady, to pull him forward. his other hand reaches to drag over his thigh. }
